The Ohio Department of Public Safety protects the safety and security of Ohioans through eight divisions:
Homeland Security, Highway Patrol, Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Emergency Management Agency, Emergency Medical Services, Investigative Unit, Ohio Office of Criminal
Justice Services and Administration.
A significant role of the Department of Public Safety is to protect Ohioans against or respond to natural disasters and intentional or accidental crises. As such,
the department provides an important coordinating role in the State of Ohio’s work to prepare for an influenza pandemic.
